This year Diwali falls on October 26, 2011 and my daughter wanted to give something special to her friends at school. So over the weekend, we got busy and this is what I came up with.
Tea light paper lanterns
Its very easy to make these and you can make plenty in a jiffy!
Step 1:
Gather some bright construction paper or cardstock, a pair of scissors, scale or measuring tape, tea light/votive, stapler, stickers
Step 2:
You need to cut the paper into strips and make sure they go around the votive or tea light. I cut the paper into 3 strips lengthwise in these dimenstions. I cut the strips into 9"x4"
Step:3
Fold the paper in half lenghtwise
Step: 4
Now make a half inch fold lengthwise again. The fold is toward the open side of the paper.
Step: 5
Open up the fold and then make an accordian fan fold, but just upto the fold which you did in step no. 4
Step: 6
Cut the accordian folds upto the
Step 7
Open up the cut strip now.
Step 9: Staple the ends. Once on top, once on the bottom
Step:10 Embellish with stickers of your choice. You are done
Voila...you can do many. Place tea light and over them the paper lanterns! Have a HAPPY DIWALI!
