Hello folks and here's wishing you all a Happy Navratri!
Goddess Durga on a brass painting
This year Sharad Navratri or the nine days festival will be celebrated by Hindus from September 28, 2011 to October 6, 2011. These Nine days Goddess Durga will be worshipped in her many forms ending on the last day or the 10th day of Vijayadashami or Dasara.
The above picture of Goddess Durga on a brass painting shows her riding a tiger with her many weapons ( the conch, the trident, the thunderbolt, a lotus, the sudershan chakra, a sword, a bow and arrow ) each having its own significance.
This depiction of Goddess Durga on brass was given to me by my mother and is kept in our puja room at home.
